Leafs recall first-rounder Nylander; assign him to AHL
Toronto Maple Leafs recall first-round pick William Nylander; assign him to AHL.

Forward William Nylander has been recalled by the Toronto Maple Leafs from MODO in the Swedish Hockey League and will report to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, according to the team.

Nylander, chosen No. 8 in the 2014 NHL Draft by the Maple Leafs, has eight goals and 20 points in 21 games for his Swedish club team this season. Nylander had three goals and 10 points in seven games for fourth-place Sweden at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.

According to a press release posted on the MODO team website, general manager Per Svartvadet said the club had "no control" over Nylander being recalled by the Leafs.

"We are extremely proud and happy that we helped William to the player he now is," Svartvadet said.
