WHL Roundup: Jarry makes 31 saves as Oil Kings beat Broncos 4-1

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Tristan Jarry made 31 saves as the Edmonton Oil Kings downed the host Swift Current Broncos 4-1 on Sunday in Western Hockey Legaue action.

Tyson Gruninger, Lane Bauer, Brandon Ralph and Tyler Roberston built up a 4-0 lead for the Oil Kings (21-17-5).

Max Lajoie responded for the Broncos (20-19-5) at 15:30 of the third period to ruin Jarry's shutout bid.

Jake DeBrusk had a chance to put Swift Current on the board in the second period with a penalty shot, but was turned away by Jarry.

Edmonton went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Broncos scored once on three chances with the man advantage.

WHEAT KINGS 5 HITMEN 4

CALGARY— Ivan Provorov scored once and set up two more as Brandon slipped past the Hitmen.

Jayce Hawryluk, Rihards Bukarts, Peter Quenneville and John Quenneville also scored for the Wheat Kings (30-9-4), who got a 28-save outing from Jordan Papirny in net.

Connor Rankin had a goal and two assists for Calgary (23-16-4) while Kenton Helgesen, Chase Lang and Radel Fazleez added the others. Mack Shields stopped 24-of-29 shots in defeat.

THUNDERBIRDS 4 AMERICANS 2

KENT, Wash. — Taran Kozun made 31 saves as the Thunderbirds doubled up Tri-City.

Shea Theodore and Cory Millette each had a goal and an assist for Seattle (20-16-5) while Alexander True and Nolan Volcan added a goal apiece.

Richard Nejezchleb and Lucas Nickles supplied the offence for the Americans (20-20-2) as Evan Sarthough stopped 42-of-46 shots in defeat.
