ROAD TEAMS ROLL

All four road teams were victorious on Wednesday night, outscoring the home teams by a combined 16-7 margin. The Washington Capitals improved to 12-6-3 on the road this season, the third-best mark in the League. The Detroit Red Wings (9-6-3), New York Rangers (9-6-1) and Boston bruins (8-9-2) also improved their record away from home.

RED-HOT RANGERS DEFEAT LEAGUE'S TOP TEAM

Rick Nash's 25th goal of the season stood as the game-winner and Henrik Lundqvist made 24 saves to lead the Rangers to a 4-1 win against the League-leading Anaheim Ducks. The Rangers have won three in a row and 11 of their last 12 (11-1-0) for the first time since going 11-0-1 from Oct. 30, 1993 to Nov. 24, 1993. The Rangers have earned at least one point in 18 of their last 23 games (16-5-2).

*Nash's goal was his 25th of the season, one behind League-leader Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars. Nash leads the Rangers in goals, points (39) and plus/minus (plus-19). Nash extended his personal point streak against Anaheim to six games (5-2—7) and has 35 points (19-16—35) in 35 career games against the Ducks.

*Lundqvist has won 10 of his last 11 games with a 1.62 goals-against average, .936 save percentage and one shutout during that span. His record this season is 19-8-3, and he has a 2.30 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.

*J.T. Miller (0-2—2) recorded his second multiple-point game of the season (the other came on Nov. 29, 2014 vs. the Philadelphia Flyers). He has three points (0-3—3) in his past two games.

BERGERON, BRUINS BEST PENGUINS IN OT

Patrice Bergeron scored twice, including the overtime winner, to lead the Bruins to a 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. With the win, the Bruins (20-15-6, 46 points) leapfrogged the Toronto Maple Leafs (21-17-3, 45 points) for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Each of the past eight games between Boston and Pittsburgh has been decided by one goal.

* The Bruins have earned points in each of their past five games (2-0-3) and have gone to overtime or a shootout in each of their last four (1-0-3). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Bruins went to overtime or shootout in four consecutive games was Jan. 19-29, 2009 (3-0-1).

*Bergeron has 10 goals this season and leads the Bruins with 30 points (10-20—30). The overtime goal was the sixth of Bergeron's career, all with the Bruins. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only Dit Clapper and Glen Murray, both with 10, have more overtime goals in franchise history.

*Milan Lucic (0-2—2) assisted on each of Bergeron's goals for his fourth multiple-point effort of the season, and first since going 1-1—2 against the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 28, 2014.

*Tuukka Rask made 37 saves to improve to 16-10-6 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

FEHR LEADS CAPITALS PAST MAPLE LEAFS

Eric Fehr had two goals and assisted on Brooks Laich's game-winner to lead the Capitals to a 6-2 win against the Maple Leafs. The Capitals have won three consecutive games and have earned at least a point in 14 of their last 15, outscoring their opponents 50-31 during that span. They improved to 20-1-2 when scoring first.

*Fehr (2-1—3) extended his point streak to five games (6-2—8), and scored his second career shorthanded goal (also Feb. 23, 2013 vs. the New Jersey Devils). It marked the fourth time in his NHL career that he has recorded a three-point game.

*Alex Ovechkin hit the empty net for his 20th of the season. Ovechkin has reached the 20-goal mark in each of his first 10 NHL seasons. He extended his point streak to four games (4-3—7). Ovechkin has 50 points (28-22—50) in 35 career games against Toronto. Ovechkin averages 0.94 goals per game at the Air Canada Centre, his highest average at any current NHL venue.

*Braden Holtby made 31 saves to improve to 19-8-6 with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. Holtby has appeared in 22 consecutive games for the Capitals; according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he tied Wayne Stephenson's franchise mark set during the 1979-80 season.

*Washington also received multiple-point efforts from Marcus Johansson (2-0—2, fifth career multi-goal game), Troy Brouwer (0-2—2) and John Carlson (0-2—2).

ZETTERBERG, RED WINGS EDGE FLAMES

Skating in his 800th career NHL game, all as a member of the Red Wings, Henrik Zetterberg notched a goal and assist to lead Detroit to a 3-2 win against the Calgary Flames. Zetterberg leads the Red Wings with 36 points (10-26—36).

*Detroit also received multiple-point efforts from Justin Abdelkader (1-1—2, including his third game winning goal of the season) and Gustav Nyquist (0-2—2).

*Petr Mrazek made 28 saves to improve to 5-2-1 with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.

LOOSE PUCKS

Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (1-1—2) scored his 18th goal of the season, tying the game 14 seconds into the third period. He has 45 points (18-27—45), tied for third in League scoring. … Flames forward Mikael Backlund had 1-1—2 in his first game since Oct. 28, 2014, a span of 29 games. … Peter Horachek made his debut as interim coach of the Maple Leafs after being named to the post earlier Wednesday. Ovechkin gave a young fan in Toronto a game-used stick for her birthday after spotting her sign in the stands.
