Flyers' Mason leaves practice, will skate Thursday
Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason left practice early on Wednesday and will undergo an MRI.

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason is expected to take part in the morning skate Thursday, general manager Ron Hextall said.

Mason left practice early Wednesday and was to have an MRI. Results were not revealed.

Mason and the Flyers did not disclose the injury, but Hextall said it wasn't related to the back injury that sidelined Mason last month, CSNPhilly.com reported.

"Any time you need an MRI it's cause for concern," Mason said in video posted on the Flyers website. "Cross my fingers that it's nothing too serious."

The Flyers host the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

Mason made 41 saves Tuesday in a 2-1 shootout win against the Ottawa Senators, when the injury apparently started to bother him. He attempted to practice Wednesday, but it was short-lived.

"Took two shots with [goaltending coach Jeff Reese] and what had kind of been bothering me since the end of last game didn't feel good, so we're going to get it checked out," Mason said.

Mason is 7-12-6 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 27 games this season.
