Rangers assign teenage forward Anthony Duclair back to junior league team

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The New York Rangers are sending teenage forward Anthony Duclair back to the junior league Quebec Remparts.

The 19-year-old Duclair was assigned to Quebec on Tuesday, one day after he and Team Canada won the gold medal at the World Junior Championship. During the tournament, Duclair had four goals and four assists in seven games.

He scored the first goal in Canada's 5-4 victory over Russia in the championship game.

In 18 games this season with the Rangers, Duclair had one goal and six assists.

Duclair, a third-round pick in the 2013 NHL draft, is too young to be sent to the AHL. He won't be eligible to rejoin the Rangers until after the Remparts' season ends in May.

In 177 career games with Quebec of the QMJHL, Duclair has 101 goals and 114 assists.
