VLASIC'S GOAL WITH SECONDS REMAINING LIFTS SHARKS OVER JETS IN WEST SIDE STORY MATCHUP
With the score tied at 2-2, Marc-Edouard Vlasic (1-0-1) scored with 4.5 seconds left in regulation ( WATCH) to propel the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 victory against the Winnipeg Jets. San Jose improved to 21-14-5 (47 points) this season to move into a tie with Winnipeg, the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks for fifth in Western Conference standings points.
* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the game-winner is the second latest game-winning goal in Sharks history; the latest was when Jonathan Cheechoo scored with four seconds remaining in regulation on Oct. 28, 2005 in a 5-4 victory against Los Angeles.
* Vlasic's marker is his fifth goal and second game-winning goal of the season. His first came on Oct. 11, 2014 in a 3-0 win against the Jets.
* Brent Burns (1-1-2) opened the scoring early in the first period on a power-play with his 11th goal and added his 20th assist for his fifth multi-point game of the season. The tally is also the fourth power-play goal of the season for Burns, who extended his point streak to three games (1-3-4). Burns now paces League defensemen for goals this season and ranks third with 31 points (11-20-31).
* Joe Pavelski (0-2-2) registered his eighth multi-point game of the season and extended his point streak to three games (3-2-5). Pavelski paces the club with 35 points (20-15-35) this season.
* Logan Couture (0-2-2) posted his 10th multi-point game of the season. Couture is tied for second on the team with 33 points (14-19-33) this season.
* Antti Niemi stopped 17 of 19 shots to improve to 16-9-4 this season with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage.
* Melker Karlsson (1-0-1) netted his third goal of the season. The rookie forward has registered seven points (3-4-7) in 11 games for the Sharks.

Winnipeg forward Bryan Little (0-1-1) extended his point streak to seven games (3-7-10). The streak is now the longest acting point streak in the League. ... Winnipeg forward Blake Wheeler (0-1-1) extended his point streak to six games (2-5-7). ... Winnipeg forward Andrew Ladd (1-0-1) extended his point streak to three games (3-2-5). ... Winnipeg defenseman Jay Harrison (1-0-1) scored his first goal as a member of the Jets. ... Canada defeated Russia by a score of 5-4 to win the goal medal at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship. Slovakia defeated Sweden by a score of 4-2 to win the bronze medal. ... St. Louis Blues right wing T.J. Oshie, Washington Capitals right wing Alex Ovechkin and Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending Jan. 4.
