JOHNSON LEADS LIGHTNING TO TOP OF EASTERN CONFERENCE STANDINGS

Tyler Johnson (2-0—2) scored twice to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-2 win against the Ottawa Senators. The Lightning improved to 25-12-4 (54 points) this season to tie the Montreal Canadiens for first in Eastern Conference standings. Tampa Bay also has won five of its last six games, dating to a 4-3 regulation victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 23, 2014.

* Johnson’s first goal was his third power-play goal; the Lightning now are 19-2-1 this season when scoring a power-play goal. Johnson's performance is his fourth multigoal game of the season and extended his point streak to three games (2-4—6).

* Victor Hedman (1-1—2) scored his fifth goal and added his 15th assist for his seventh multipoint game of the season. Hedman also has six points (2-4—6) in his past four games.

* Nikita Kucherov (0-2—2) had his ninth multipoint game of the season and has nine points (4-5—9) in his past six games.

* Steven Stamkos (1-0—1) scored the game-winner with his 21st goal of the season after a highlight-reel individual effort. The goal was the third game-winner of the season for Stamkos, who leads the Lightning in goals and is in the League.

* Ben Bishop made 20 saves to improve to 6-0-2 against his former team. Bishop is 19-6-2 this season, with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. Bishop's 19 wins rank him seventh among League goaltenders.

* Anton Stralman (0-1—1) had his 16th assist of the season and extended his point streak to three games (0-4—4).

* Matt Carle (0-1—1) had his ninth assist of the season to extend his point streak to a season-high four games (1-3—4).

* Ondrej Palat (0-1—1) had his 21st assist of the season; he has seven points (1-6—7) in his past three games and 11 points (1-10—11) in his past six.

OVECHKIN POWERS CAPITALS PAST PANTHERS

Alexander Ovechkin (1-1—2) had his 12th multipoint game of the season to lift the Washington Capitals to a 4-3 victory against the Florida Panthers. The Capitals have earned a point in 13 of their past 14 games (10-1-3) and improved to 20-11-7 (47 points) to pass the New York Rangers for sole possession of third in the Metropolitan Division standings. The Capitals also have earned a point in 13 consecutive games against the Panthers (11-0-2), dating to a 4-0 win Feb. 7, 2012.

* Ovechkin opened the scoring early in the second period on a power play with his 19th goal. He also had an assist to bring his career total to 67 points (32-35—67) in 52 games against Florida. The Capitals improved to 19-1-2 this season when scoring first. The goal also is the eighth power-play goal of the season for Ovechkin, who has a goal and an assist in each of his past three games (3-3—6).

* In his career-high 15th consecutive start, Braden Holtby stopped 29 of 32 shots to improve to 18-8-6 this season, with a 2.30 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Holtby also is 7-0-1 record in eight career games against the Panthers.

* Rookie Andre Burakovsky (1-0—1) scored the game-winner with his fifth goal of the season. The goal also is Burakovsky’s first game-winning goal of his career.

* Brooks Laich (1-0—1) scored his fourth goal of the season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Laich has more points against Florida (12-18—30) than any other franchise in his career.

* Karl Alzner (1-0—1) scored his career-high third goal of the season.

* Eric Fehr (0-1—1) had his sixth assist of the season and extended his point streak to a season-high four games (4-1—5).

* John Carlson (0-1—1) had his 24th assist of the season and has six assists in his past seven games (0-6—6), in addition to 16 points in his past 17 games (2-14—16).

* Brooks Orpik (0-1—1) had his ninth assist of the season; Washington improved to 8-0-0 this season when Orpik has a point.

CHICAGO'S SHARP NETS OVERTIME-WINNER IN VICTORY OVER DALLAS

Patrick Sharp (1-1—2) scored 1:17 into overtime to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-4 victory against the Dallas Stars. The Blackhawks improved to 26-11-2 (54 points) this season and tied the Nashville Predators for first in Central Division. Chicago improved to 3-0-0 against Dallas this season and has won 17 of its past 22 games, dating to a 6-2 win against the Stars on Nov. 16, 2014.

* Chicago overcame four separate one-goal deficits en route to the overtime victory. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Blackhawks accomplished the same feat with a winning result was Dec. 23, 1970, in a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

* The performance is Sharp’s fifth multipoint game of the season and he extended his point streak to a season-high four games (2-3—5). The goal was Sharp’s first in overtime and first game-winning goal of the season.

* Brad Richards (1-1—2) had his fourth multipoint game of the season. Richard ranks eighth on the Blackhawks with 21 points (8-13—21) this season.

* Marian Hossa (0-2—2) and Duncan Keith (0-2—2) had their third and second multi-assist games of the season, respectively. Hossa also extended his point streak to five games (2-4—6) while Keith extended his point streak to four (0-7—7).

* Patrick Kane (1-0—1) scored his 19th goal of the season. Chicago improved to 13-2-0 when Kane scores a goal and 20-5-1 in games when Kane has a point.

* Bryan Bickell (1-0—1) scored his sixth goal of the season on a power play. It was his first power-play goal of the season.

* Corey Crawford made 29 saves in regulation and one in overtime to improve to 15-7-2 this season, with a 2.20 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. Crawford also improved to 11-5-0 career against Dallas.

SAVARD'S LATE GAME-WINNING GOAL LEADS COLUMBUS OVER COLORADO

With the score tied 3-3, David Savard (1-0—1) scored with 1:01 left in regulation to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche. Columbus improved to 17-17-3 (37 points) this season and took sole possession of fifth in the Metropolitan Division. The Blue Jackets are 12-3-3 in one-goal games this season and improved to 5-1-0 in their past six road games.

* Savard's goal was his seventh of the season, extending his career-high. Of Savard's seven goals this season, three have been game-winners, also a career-high.

* Brandon Dubinsky (2-0—2) scored his first two goals of the season. The first was the 100th of his career. Dubinsky extended his point streak to a season-high four games (2-5—7).

* Nick Foligno (0-2—2) had his 11th multipoint game of the season and extended his point streak to four games (1-4—5). Foligno leads the Blue Jackets in points (17-18—35) this season.

* Cody Goloubef (0-2—2) had the recorded the first two assists of his NHL career.

* Ryan Johansen (1-0—1) had his 12th goal of the season and extended his point streak to seven games (3-4—7), which includes scoring in three straight. Johansen ranks second on the Blue Jackets in points (12-22—34).

* Curtis McElhinney stopped 26 of 29 shots to improve to 3-6-1 this season, with a 3.22 goals-against average and .899 save percentage.

KESLER SCORES SHOOTOUT-WINNER AS DUCKS DEFEAT PREDATORS

Ryan Kesler scored the shootout winner in the third round to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-3 win against the Nashville Predators. The Ducks improved their League-leading record to 26-9-6 (58 points) this season and have earned points in five of their past six games (4-1-1). Anaheim also is 12-3-1 in their past 16 and 15-5-1 in their past 21, as well as 7-1-0 in their past eight home games. The Ducks also lead the NHL with 20 wins in one-goal games (20-0-6) this season.

* The Ducks improved to 6-1-0 against the Predators since the start of the 2012-13 season. At the Honda Center, Anaheim improved to a 21-6-3 against Nashville.

* Frederik Andersen made 27 saves through 65 minutes and stopped two of three shooters in the shootout to improve to 22-6-5 this season, with a 2.32 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. Andersen is tied for second among League goaltenders in wins with a career-best 22.

* Matt Beleskey (1-0—1) opened the scoring with his Ducks-leading 17th goal of the season. Beleskey has three points (2-1—3) in his past two games.

* Corey Perry (1-0—1) scored his 15th goal of the season. Perry ranks second on the Ducks in goals behind Beleskey.

* Facing a 3-2 deficit, Francois Beauchemin (1-0—1) tied the game late in the third period with his second goal of the season.

* Ryan Getzlaf (0-1—1) recorded his Ducks-leading 31st assist and Ducks-best 44th point (13-31—44) of the season. Getzlaf also ranks third among League leaders in both categories.

HENDRICKS SCORES TWICE TO LIFT OILERS PAST ISLANDERS

Matt Hendricks (2-0—2) scored two goals to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 5-2 victory against the New York Islanders. The Oilers improved to 9-22-9 (27 points) this season and have won their past five games against the Islanders at Rexall Place, dating to a 4-0 win on Jan. 7, 2008.

* The two-goal performance is Hendricks' first multipoint game of the season. His last such performance came as a member of the Nashville Predators on Dec. 10, 2013 in a 4-1 win against the New York Rangers (1-1—2).

* Jordan Eberle (1-0—1) scored eight seconds into the second period with his eighth goal of the season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Eberle's goal is the fastest of his career to begin a period as it eclipsed his previous best from March 6, 2012 where he scored 10 seconds into the first period in an eventual 3-2 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks. The last time a member of the Oilers scored within eight seconds to begin a period was when Mark Messier scored eight seconds into overtime Nov. 19, 1989 in a 5-4 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks.

* Derek Roy (1-0—1) scored his second goal of the season and first as a member of the Oilers since being acquired in a trade with the Nashville Predators in exchange for Mark Arcobello on Dec. 29, 2014.

* Ben Scrivens stopped 31 of 33 shots to improve to 7-13-7 this season, with a 3.01 goals-against average and .898 save percentage. Scrivens has made four consecutive starts and has earned points in each game (2-0-2). Scrivens also improved to 3-1-0 in four career games against the Islanders.

KHUDOBIN RECORDS SHOOTOUT WIN AGAINST HIS FORMER TEAM

Anton Khudobin made 19 saves through 65 minutes and stopped all three shooters in the shootout to power the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 win against the Boston Bruins. The Hurricanes improved to 12-23-4 (28 points) this season and have won consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 1-7, 2014 when they won four straight.

* Khudobin played for the Bruins in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons and earned the victory in his first career game against his former club. Khudobin's first two wins of the season have been shootout victories in consecutive starts; he also backstopped the Hurricanes to a 2-1 shootout win Dec. 23, 2014 against the New Jersey Devils. Khudobin improved to 2-8-2 this season, with a 2.55 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.

* Patrick Dwyer (1-0—1) opened the scoring late in the first period with his third goal of the season while Eric Staal scored the shootout winner for the Hurricanes.

* Brad Malone (0-1—1) had his first assist of the season. Malone scored his first goal of the season in Carolina's previous game, Jan. 2 in a 2-1 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers. He has points in consecutive games (1-1—2) for the second time in his career; the first occasion was Dec. 19-21, 2011 (0-2—2) as a member of the Colorado Avalanche.

Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla (1-0—1) and Senators forward Kyle Turris (1-1—2) opened the scoring 30 and 32 seconds into their respective games.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Iginla's goal is the third-fastest goal to begin a game of his career; he scored in 27 seconds Oct. 31, 2002 en route to a 3-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres, and 13 seconds Nov. 21, 2009 en route to a 5-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings. Both of these goals came as a member of the Calgary Flames.

* The last member of the Avalanche to open the scoring in the first 30 seconds of a game was Ryan O'Reilly; he did so in 20 seconds March 19, 2014 against the Winnipeg Jets in an eventual 5-4 overtime loss.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Turris' goal is the second-fastest goal to begin a game of his career; he scored in 21 seconds March 17, 2009 as a member of the Arizona Coyotes en route to a 4-3 win against the San Jose Sharks.

* The last member of the Senators to open the scoring in the first 32 seconds of a game was Colin Greening; he did so in 13 seconds exactly one year ago, Jan. 4, 2014, against the Montreal Canadiens en route to a 4-3 overtime victory.

Florida forward Nick Bjugstad (1-1—2) had his fifth multipoint game of the season. ... Florida defenseman Aaron Ekblad (0-1—1) had his Panthers-high 17th assist of the season and set a franchise record for points by a rookie defenseman with 22 (5-17—22). Ed Jovanovski held the previous record of 21 (10-11—21), which he set during the 1995-96 season. ... Ottawa forward Kyle Turris (1-1—2) had his sixth multipoint game of the season and extended his point streak to three games (2-2—4). ... Ottawa forward Clarke MacArthur (0-1—1) extended his point streak to four games (2-2—4). The streak ties a season-high he set Nov. 11-20, 2014 (1-3—4). ...
