Prior to the telecast Sunday of the Vancouver Canucks and the Anaheim Ducks on CITY in Canada, the NHL Network in the United States will televise the "Rogers Hometown Hockey" broadcast at 7:30 p.m. ET. This week's location is Peterborough, Ontario, to celebrate the city's iconic hockey story.
Among the features airing on the pregame show:
* Growing up, Chris Pronger had no expectation of playing for the Peterborough Petes, or for any team in the Ontario Hockey League. But Pronger spent two seasons in Peterborough, and had a banner raised into the rafters at the Petes' home arena Nov. 2 to celebrate the defenseman's storied hockey career.
* Mike Davies is the Peterborough Petes' beat reporter for the Peterborough Examiner, but suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease. Still, Davis doesn't allow his condition to keep him away from hockey.
* The Peterborough Petes also are known as the Junior Hockey Factory, as for 59 years the organization has produced countless NHL players and coaches.
