The Tampa Bay Lightning have sent goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy down to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, the team announced on Wednesday.
Vasilevskiy was recalled from the AHL on Dec. 16 after starting Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop sustained a lower-body injury during the first period of a Dec. 15 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Bishop has missed the past four games, of which Vasilevskiy has started three. He's gone 2-1-0 with a .940 save percentage and a 2.01 goals against average over the span, which included picking up his first NHL victory in a 3-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 16. Before he was recalled, Vasilevskiy appeared in 14 games for the Crunch with an 8-3-3 record.
