Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry returned to practice Sunday two weeks after sustaining a knee sprain, the team announced.
Perry, the NHL's Hart Trophy winner in 2011, was injured Dec. 7 when he was hit by a hip check from Minnesota Wild defenseman Keith Ballard during the Ducks' 5-4 win at Xcel Energy Center and was projected to miss 3-4 weeks.
"It's coming along," Perry told the Ducks website. "I feel good. It's nice to actually skate with other guys and have a goalie to shoot on. It was a long week all by myself, but those are things you have to go through in order to come back. It's good to see everybody."
Perry wore a red practice sweater, along with Ryan Getzlaf, Patrick Maroon and Devante Smith-Pelly, but did not participate in line rushes and will not play Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reported. There is no official timeline for his return.
"I'm not going to push it, so we'll see what happens," Perry said. "I have to feel confident on the ice. It's all about how I feel. I'm talking with doctors and trainers, and doing everything that I have to do to be ready."
Perry's 14 goals are second on the Ducks despite missing 11 games this season, including five with the mumps last month. He had 43 goals and 82 points in 81 games last season and led the League with 50 goals in 2010-11.
Anaheim defensemen Francois Beauchemin (broken finger) and Hampus Lindholm (lower body) were also on the ice Sunday. Beauchemin has been out since Nov. 28 and also had a case of the mumps last month. Lindholm sat out the game Friday against the Ottawa Senators.
Beauchemin will not play Monday but it targeting the first game after the holiday break for his return.
"I think I might just take five more days. I don't want to risk it tomorrow," Beauchemin said, according to the Ducks website. "As much as I want to play, it's smarter for me and better for the team if I take tomorrow and the next four days off. Start fresh after Christmas."
