Flyers goalie Mason to miss at least two games
Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason sustained an upper-body injury in practice Friday and will miss at least the next two games

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Friday that goaltender Steve Mason will miss at least the next two games after sustaining an upper-body injury at practice Friday.

Steve Mason
Goalie - PHI
RECORD: 6-10-5
GAA: 2.49 | SVP: .921
Mason will not play Saturday at the Toronto Maple Leafs or Sunday at the Winnipeg Jets when the Flyers start an eight-game road trip. The Flyers said they would have an update on Mason on Monday.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported Mason needed to be helped from the ice at the Flyers' practice site in Voorhees, N.J., after he was injured.

According to the newspaper, Mason fell face-first to the ice during a drill. Training staff on the ice rolled Mason onto his back. After remaining down for a few moments, Mason was helped off the ice, unable to skate under his own power. The newspaper reported no player touched Mason during the drill.

Mason is 6-10-5 this season with a .921 save percentage and 2.49 goals-against average.

It's expected Ray Emery will start at least one, if not two, of the weekend games. The 32-year-old is 5-4-1 with a 3.05 GAA and .899 save percentage in 11 games. In his most recent start, Dec. 11 against the New Jersey Devils, he made 17 saves in a 4-1 victory.

There was no word on who the Flyers would use as a backup. Their choices in the American Hockey League are 33-year-old veteran Rob Zepp and first-year pro Anthony Stolarz.

Zepp never has played in the NHL and is in North America after nine seasons in Europe. In 17 AHL games this season, he has a 2.70 GAA and .918 save percentage.

Stolarz, 20, was selected by the Flyers in the second round (No. 45) of the 2012 NHL Draft. In 10 AHL games, he is 4-5-0 with a 2.60 GAA and .927 save percentage.
