Jets lose Stuart to injury, acquire Harrison in trade
Winnipeg Jets defenseman Mark Stuart will be out until February with a lower-body injury sustained in a fight Tuesday, the latest blow to an already depleted defense corps.

The Winnipeg Jets acquired defenseman Jay Harrison from the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

The trade came hours after the Jets announced defenseman Mark Stuart will be out until February with a lower-body injury sustained in a fight Tuesday, the latest blow to an already depleted defense corps.

The Jets have already been playing without Jacob Trouba (upper body), Zach Bogosian (lower body) and Toby Enstrom (lower body). Trouba, Bogosian, Enstrom and Stuart made up their top-two defense pairs at the start of the season.

Harrison joins a Winnipeg defense that now features Dustin Byfuglien, who was playing forward last month, as well as Grant Clitsome, Paul Postma, Adam Pardy, Ben Chiarot and Julien Brouillette.

The 32-year-old has one goal and four points in 20 games this season. He has 21 goals and 70 points in 337 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes.
