Goaltender Tomas Vokoun decides to retire after playing 15 NHL seasons

Goaltender Tomas Vokoun has decided to retire after a 15-year NHL career.

Vokoun broke in with the Montreal Canadiens before spending the bulk of his prime with the Nashville Predators.

The native of the Czech Republic also played for the Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins before blood-clot issues cost him the 2013-14 season.

Vokoun went 300-288-78 in his 700 NHL games with a career 2.55 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

After giving up four goals on 14 shots in his debut with the Canadiens Feb. 26, 1997, Vokoun never had a season with a GAA above 3.00.

Vokoun played in only 22 Stanley Cup playoff games, half of which came with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2013.
