OHL Roundup: Stephens scores four goals to lead Spirit in rout of IceDogs

ST.CATHARINES, - It was all Mitchell Stephens on Saturday night.

Stephens scored four goals for the Saginaw Spirit in their 7-1 rout of the Niagara IceDogs in Ontario Hockey League play.

Dylan Sadowy had a goal and three assists for the Spirit (13-15-2). Connor Brown and Nick Moutrey added the other goals.

Billy Jenkins replied for Niagara (10-20-1) in the second period.

David Ovsjannikov turned away 24 shots for the win. Brandon Hope made 33 saves for the IceDogs.

The Spirit scored three times on seven power-play opportunities while Niagara went 0 for 3.

GENERALS 5 OTTERS 1

ERIE, Pa. — Mitchell Vande Sompel had two goals and an assist as Oshawa dominated the Otters.

Bradley Latour, Hunter Smith and Stephen Desrocher also scored for the Generals (24-4-1).

Alex DeBrincat responded with his 26th of the season on the power play for Erie (23-7-2).

WOLVES 3 FRONTENACS 1

SUDBURY, Ont. — Matt Schmalz struck twice and added an assist as the Wolves downed Kingston.

Nathan Pancel also scored for Sudbury (7-22-1) in its second-straight win.

Robert Polesello opened the scoring for the Frontenacs (13-12-3) in the second period.

BULLS 4 67'S 1

BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Niki Petti's 11th goal of the season help up as the winner as the Bulls got past Ottawa.

Brett Wlychka, Jake Marchment and David Tomasek rounded out the attack for Belleville (16-14-2).

Alex Lintuniemi scored for the 67's (14-13-2).

STORM 3 WHALERS 2 (OT)

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Zac Leslie scored four minutes into overtime as Guelph edged the Whalers.

Tyler Bertuzzi struck twice in the third period to tie the game for the Storm (19-10-1), who extended their winning streak to five games.

Vincent Scognamiglio and Sonny Milano opened the scoring for Plymouth (10-18-3).

PETES 4 STING 3 (SO)

SARNIA, Ont. — Anthony Stefano scored once in regulation and had the deciding goal in the shootout as Peterborough slipped past the Sting.

Michael Clarke and Josh MacDonald also had goals for the Petes (10-15-4).

Anthony DeAngelo had a pair of goals for Sarnia (16-13-3) with Nikita Korostelev adding the other.

COLTS 4 RANGERS 1

BARRIE, Ont. — Kevin Lebanc struck twice for the Colts in their win over Kitchener.

Michael Webster and Andrew Mangiapane also scored for Barrie (15-11-2), which won its fourth straight.

Justin Bailey replied with his 17th of the season in the third period for the Rangers (14-10-6).

STEELHEADS 4 ATTACK 3 (SO)

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Everett Clark had the only goal in the shootout as Mississauga edged the Attack.

Josh Burnside scored twice in regulation for the Steelheads (14-14-1) while Nathan Bastian added the other Mississauga goal.

Ryan Heeps, Petrus Palmu and Zach Nastasiuk supplied the offence for Owen Sound (14-9-7).
