BOSTON --Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews has an upper-body injury, according to the Blackhawks website. He will travel with the team to Long Island, where they face the New York Islanders on Saturday.
Toews left near the midway point of the second period against the Boston Bruins on Thursday and did not return to the game.
"Yeah, he seemed all right," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said after the game Thursday. "We'll see how he is tomorrow. It looks like he’s going to be all right."
At 10:04 of the second period, Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg earned a penalty for boarding for his hit on Toews into the end wall. Toews was shaken up but stayed in the game for the 5-on-3 power play.
Toews took a hooking penalty 49 seconds later and then did not play again.
Chicago won 3-2.
