New York Rangers loan forward Anthony Duclair to Canadian junior team

TORONTO - The New York Rangers are loaning forward Anthony Duclair to the Canadian team for the upcoming world junior hockey championship.

Duclair, who has seven points in 18 games for the Rangers this season, will be joining the team at selection camp on Dec. 11.

"On behalf of Hockey Canada and all Team Canada fans, I would like to thank the New York Rangers for their support of Canada's national junior team," Hockey Canada's Scott Salmond said in a release. "We expect that the team will benefit greatly from the addition of Anthony for both his skill and leadership, and we believe this will be a great experience for Anthony as he embarks on what we expect will be long and successful professional and international playing career."

Duclair, a 19-year-old native of Pointe-Claire, Que., was a member of the Quebec Remparts from 2011-14. He played twice at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and won a gold medal with the national men's summer under-18 team at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

Duclair was selected by the Rangers in the third round (No. 80 overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Canada's selection camp runs from Dec. 11-15. The final roster for the tournament must be submitted on Dec. 25.

Canada's first game is scheduled for Dec. 26 against Slovakia in Montreal.
