Red Wings Centre Pavel Datsyuk named NHL's first star of the week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Detroit Red Wings centre Pavel Datsyuk has been named the NHL's first star of the week after putting up three multi-point performances in four games.

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and Florida Panthers defenceman Aaron Ekblad were named the second and third stars respectively.

Datsyuk had three goals and four assists in four games last week to help the Red Wings pick up three wins and tie Tampa Bay for most points in the Atlantic Division.

He capped the week with his best offensive performance, scoring a goal and adding two assists in a 3-1 win over Carolina on Sunday.

Datsyuk has recorded five multi-point performances in his last seven outings, totalling 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in that stretch.

Bobrovsky posted a 3-0-0 record with a 1.62 goals-against average and .956 save percentage to backstop the Blue Jackets to their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Ekblad led all defencemen with six points (two goals, four assists) in four games to lead the Panthers to five out of a possible eight standings points.
