UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Martin Brodeur made his second appearance for the St. Louis Blues when he replaced Jake Allen to start the second period with the Blues trailing 3-0 to the New York Islanders.

Brodeur, 42, made 20 saves in his season debut Thursday in a 4-3 loss to the Nashville Predators, his first game since April 16. He signed a one-year contract Tuesday with goalie Brian Elliott sidelined by a knee injury.

The four-time Vezina Trophy winner and three-time Stanley Cup winner went 688-394-176 in 21 seasons with the New Jersey Devils.

Allen allowed three goals on 12 shots.
