Penguins forward Hornqvist leaves game with injury
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist left the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday midway through the second period with an apparent upper-body injury.

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist left the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday midway through the second period with an apparent upper-body injury.

With a little less than 9:00 remaining in the period, Hornqvist was hit by Canucks defenseman Ryan Stanton near the blue line closest to the Vancouver zone as play shifted back the other direction at Consol Energy Center.

Hornqvist immediately skated toward the bench and walked down the runway to the locker room.

Forward Steve Downie replaced Hornqvist, who is second on the Penguins with 11 goals and third with 25 points, on their top line alongside center Sidney Crosby and left wing Nick Spaling.

Hornqvist left after 10:16 of ice time.

Penguins coach Mike Johnston did not provide an update on Hornqvist's condition following the 3-0 loss.

Pittsburgh is also without forwards Chris Kunitz (foot) and Pascal Dupuis (blood clots).
