Red Wings' Abdelkader out vs. Panthers: report
Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader reportedly won't play Tuesday against the Florida Panthers because of a shoulder injury

Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader will miss a game Tuesday against the Florida Panthers because of a shoulder injury, MLive.com reported Monday. The report cited that Abdelkader is considered day-to-day.

Abdelkader was injured late in the second period of the Red Wings' game Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks when he was checked by the Canucks' Luca Sbisa. Abdelkader did not play in the third period.

"He penalty kills, blocks shots, he plays hard on offense," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said Monday, according to MLive.com. "He understands you score goals by being at the net so he goes to the net. He's an important player for us. He's a guy that works hard every day in my opinion. He brings it most every day, skates good, gets in on the forecheck. So we need guys like that."

Abdelkader has seven goals and 15 points in 24 games this season.
