Gordie Howe 'comfortable' after another minor stroke
Detroit Red Wings legend Gordie Howe had another minor stroke this weekend, but he is comfortable, his son told the Detroit Free Press.

Gordie Howe had another minor stroke Saturday, but his son told the Detroit Free Press on Sunday that Mr. Hockey is comfortable.

"We were able to get rid of his back pain, so basically he's kind of resting comfortably," Mark Howe told George Sipple of the Free Press at the Detroit Red Wings-Vancouver Canucks game at Joe Louis Arena. "I'd say he probably has more good days than bad days. I mean, it's hard. He's not walking. Speech is extremely, extremely difficult.

"He knows what we're saying. He understands what's going on. When you're there with him, you can interact; it's still a nice thing."

Howe, 86, had a massive stroke Oct. 26 at his daughter’s home in Lubbock, Texas. The Red Wings legend was able to walk a bit a week later, but then suffered a setback when he had a minor stroke in early November while recovering at his daughter’s home, where he remains.

Mark Howe, who is the Red Wings’ director of pro scouting, said his father has had eight to 10 strokes this year.

"He's not in pain. He's comfortable,” he told Sipple.
