Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin will have a hearing Saturday afternoon with the Department of Player Safety after an incident with Buffalo Sabres forward Brian Gionta in a game Friday night at First Niagara Center.
Emelin was assessed a two-minute penalty for an illegal check to the head on Gionta.
The Sabres won the game 2-1.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
