FANTASY HOCKEY ANALYSIS

The 2014-15 NHL season is in full swing, so NHL.com has you covered with weekly fantasy hockey positional rankings, real-time spin updates and waiver wire advice.

"I'm hoping he'll be in the lineup tomorrow," Capitals coach Barry Trotz told the Capitals website. "I believe so, yeah."

The Capitals shuffled their lines at practice without Ovechkin, according to the Washington Post. Andre Burakovsky took Ovechkin's spot on the top line with Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Wilson. Evgeny Kuznetsov skated on the second line between Troy Brouwer and Marcus Johansson. Eric Fehr was in Ovechkin's typical place on the first power-play unit.

"We'll have to make some decisions," Trotz said. "I'm pretty sure [Ovechkin] should be able to go. If he can't, then we'll have to make some decisions there. We only have one extra guy."

The Capitals have 21 healthy skaters available, including Ovechkin. Defenseman Mike Green (upper body) did not practice Tuesday and will not play. Forward Brooks Laich (shoulder) practiced but will sit out. Forward Liam O'Brien (lower body) and defenseman Brooks Orpik each practiced and are expected to play.

Ovechkin's 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 20 games are one behind Backstrom for the Capitals lead. If Ovechkin plays Wednesday it will be his 700th NHL game. He's 27th on the Capitals all-time list in games played behind Rod Langway's 726.
