Tomas Tatar's two goals power Detroit Red Wings past Winnipeg Jets 4-3

WINNIPEG - The Detroit Red Wings are giving Petr Mrazek his first start in net this season since he was called up from the AHL to fill a hole left when regular backup Jonas Gustavsson was injured.

It means there will be a Czech netminder at either end of the MTS centre as the Winnipeg Jets play starter Ondrej Pavelec tonight.

Xavier Quellett is another AHL player making his debut this season for Detroit (9-4-5) when they face the Jets.

Both teams have 23 points although Detroit is two games back of Winnipeg (10-7-3).

Except for Pavelec, the Jets are sticking with the lineup that gave them a 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night.

Jets coach Paul Maurice says the Red Wings are the best puck possession team in the NHL and have been for many years but they don't play the Jets often. This is only their second visit to Winnipeg.
