"Everybody plays with bumps and bruises, and he aggravated an injury and it got to the point where he couldn't go and needed to have some work done," Sharks coach Todd McLellan told the newspaper.
Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel knocked down Stalock late in the third period of the Sharks' 5-3 win Saturday, the report said. Stalock completed the game.
McLellan said the injury was not directly caused by the collision. No timetable was given for Stalock's return.
Stalock was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, when the Sharks recalled Troy Grosenick from Worcester of the American Hockey League. Stalock was 2-1-1 with a 2.38 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.
