Defenseman Boyle expected back in Rangers lineup
New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle is expected to play Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche at Madison Square Garden, coach Alain Vigneault said Wednesday.

New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle is expected to play Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche at Madison Square Garden, coach Alain Vigneault said Wednesday.

Boyle hasn't played since breaking his hand early in the third period of the Rangers' season-opener on Oct. 9 against the St. Louis Blues. He has missed 14 games.

"I think he's going to play [Thursday]," Vigneault said.

Boyle practiced Wednesday with no limitations. He was on the Rangers top power play unit with Derek Stepan, Derick Brassard, Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis. He'll likely replace Michael Kostka in the lineup.

Boyle signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Rangers on July 1.
