Ducks' Gibson to miss six weeks with groin injury
Rookie goaltender John Gibson is expected to miss six weeks with a groin injury, the Anaheim Ducks said Tuesday.

Rookie goaltender John Gibson is expected to miss six weeks with a groin injury, the Anaheim Ducks said Tuesday.

John Gibson
Goalie - ANA
RECORD: 2-2-0
GAA: 2.28 | SVP: .927
Gibson was injured before Anaheim's game Sunday against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center. Goaltending consultant Dwayne Roloson, who was with the team on the trip, suited up and sat on the bench, and acted as the emergency goaltender against the Avalanche.

Anaheim's other goaltender, Frederik Andersen, remains day-to-day with leg tightness, the team said. With Andersen and Gibson unavailable Sunday, the Ducks started Jason LaBarbera and he made 16 saves in a 3-2 victory against Colorado.

Andersen is 7-1-0 in eight starts this season with a .941 save percentage and a 1.60 goals-against average. Gibson started opening night against the Pittsburgh Penguins but allowed six goals. He's been great since, and is 2-2-0 with a .927 save percentage and 2.28 GAA this season.

The Ducks recalled goalie Igor Bobkov the American Hockey League to potentially pair with LaBarbera if Andersen remains out of the lineup. Bobkov was a third-round pick (No. 76) in the 2009 NHL Draft and is 5-3-1 with a .919 save percentage for Norfolk in the AHL this season.
