The New Jersey Devils recalled forward Steve Bernier from Albany of the American Hockey League on Monday and reassigned forward Reid Boucher to Albany, the team announced via its Twitter account.
Bernier, who had one goal and five points in nine games for Albany, has 12 goals and 33 points in 157 regular-season games with New Jersey over the past three seasons. A veteran of 542 NHL games with the San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers and Devils, the 29-year-old joined the team for practice Monday.
Boucher, 21, was scoreless in three NHL games this season.
Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello also provided updates on injured forwards Mike Cammalleri, Marty Havlat and Jordin Tootoo.
Lamoriello expects Cammalleri (jaw), who has missed the past three games, will start skating again soon.
"I don't think that will be far away. I don't think he'll be too long. He's feeling better, just not ready yet," Lamoriello said.
Havlat (lower body) and Tootoo (foot) are on injured reserve. Havlat is skating but not 100 percent yet. Tootoo is feeling better and skating, but hasn't returned to practice yet.
The Devils placed goaltender Scott Clemmensen on waivers, according to NJ Advance Media. If the veteran backup clears waivers he could be sent to Albany. Clemmensen has made two relief appearances this season, with no record, a 6.49 goals-against average and .765 save percentage.
Former Devils defenseman Mark Fraser signed a contract with Albany. Fraser, 28, was a third-round pick (No. 84) by New Jersey in the 2005 NHL Draft and had three goals and eight points in 98 games over parts of four seasons with the Devils. He has also played for the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers.
