Kings' Kopitar could return to lineup Sunday: report
Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar could return to the lineup Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes, according to the Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar could return to the lineup Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Kopitar has missed the past three games because of an upper-body injury sustained Oct. 26 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"It felt good," Kopitar said after practicing in Detroit on Saturday. "I'm planning on [playing Sunday] unless there's something really drastic that happens. But I don't think I'm going to be doing anything [Saturday] afternoon. Hopefully it stays that way. And hopefully I feel that way [Sunday]."

Kopitar said his injury was serious when it initially happened.

"... My whole arm went numb and then it kind of got back [to normal]," Kopitar said, according to the newspaper. "It was just one of those bad stingers. The severity, it wasn't that bad, I guess. It was gone pretty much right after. I didn't know ... when I landed on the ice it was kind of scary when your whole arm gets numb and it's not a very great feeling.

"I tried it a couple of times after and I didn't have a whole lot of power in me. It came back pretty quick. A couple of days after I felt like I had pretty good strength. Again, I had to be a little bit cautious too, not to overdo it."

Prior to missing time with his injury, Kopitar had missed one game the previous three seasons. In eight games this season he has two goals and one assist.
