KINGS WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT

The red-hot line of Jeff Carter (1-3—4), Tyler Toffoli (1-3—4) and Tanner Pearson (2-0—2) continued their torrid pace to lead the Los Angeles Kings to their sixth consecutive victory. The win completed the best homestand in franchise history; L.A. finished with a 6-0-0 record (its previous best was 5-0-1 during the 1990-91 season).

*The Kings have tied a franchise record for most wins (six) through their first eight games of a season, a feat they have accomplished five times (also 2010-11, 6-2-0; 2005-06, 6-2-0; 1990-91, 6-1-1; 1980-81, 6-1-1). They also tied the club mark for most points (13) through the first eight games, the third time they have done so (also 1990-91; 6-1-1, 1980-81; 6-1-1).

*The line of Carter, Pearson and Toffoli has combined for 33 points (16-17—33) and a plus-32 rating in the past seven games. The Kings are 6-0-1 during that stretch.

*Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in the victory. Quick has won his last five starts, allowing four goals in that span with a 0.69 goals-against-average and a .976 save percentage.

KANE REACHES 500-POINT MILESTONE IN BLACKHAWKS WIN

Patrick Kane earned an assist on Jonathan Toews’ opening goal in Chicago’s 2-1 win against the Ottawa Senators. It was the 500th point of his NHL career (181-319—500). He ranks 14th on the franchise’s all-time points list. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only eight active players have reached the 500-point milestone faster than Kane (523 GP): Sidney Crosby (369), Alex Ovechkin (373), Evgeni Malkin (413), Jaromir Jagr (419), Dany Heatley (456), Nicklas Backstrom (501), Jason Spezza (501) and Pavel Datsyuk (505).

*Goaltender Scott Darling (Lemont, IL) made 32 saves to win his NHL debut. He outdueled Ottawa goaltender and fellow Illinois native Craig Anderson (Park Ridge, IL), who made 43 saves in the loss. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Darling is the sixth Illinois-born goalie to appear in an NHL game and the third to play/debut with the Blackhawks: the others are Anderson and Bob Janecyk (Chicago). Darling, 25, who was the 153rd player selected (by the then-Phoenix Coyotes) in the 2007 NHL Draft, spent time in the Southern Professional Hockey League, ECHL and American Hockey League before making his NHL debut.

*The Blackhawks have won six consecutive home games against the Senators dating back to a 5-2 loss on March 28, 2001.

SHARKS SNAP DUCKS' STREAK

The San Jose Sharks snapped the Anaheim Ducks’ seven-game win streak with a 4-1 victory backed by multiple-point efforts from Patrick Marleau (0-2—2) and Logan Couture (0-2—2). Marleau has 12 points this season (4-8—12), one behind League-leader Tyler Seguin (6-7—13) of the Dallas Stars. Defenseman Brent Burns opened the scoring with his third goal of the season; it was the 100th of his NHL career. Joe Pavelski’s team-leading fifth goal of the season held up as the game-winner. He led the Sharks with 41 goals in 2013-14.

Bryan Little scored the overtime winner for Winnipeg with 24.2 seconds remaining in the extra period. He leads all Jets skaters with five goals this season. … Jets captain Andrew Ladd (1-1—2) scored his 100th goal with the Winnipeg/Atlanta franchise. … Alex Tanguay of the Colorado Avalanche recorded an assist to extend his point streak to five games (3-2—5), while teammate Tyson Barrie’s helper pushed his point streak to four games (1-5—6). … Columbus defenseman Tim Erixon and Washington forward Liam O’Brien each scored his first career NHL goal … Ryan Johansen (0-1—1) extended his point streak to eight games (5-6—11). He has at least one point in each of the Blue Jackets' eight games this season. … Radim Vrbata (1-1—2), Daniel Sedin (0-1—1) and Henrik Sedin (1-0—1) each has at least one point in seven of the eight games the Canucks have played this season. … Ryan Kesler of the Anaheim Ducks (0-1—1) earned his 400th career NHL point and teammate Cam Fowler earned his 100th career assist. … Jason Chimera of the Washington Capitals skated in his 800th career NHL game. ..
