Stars' Nemeth out for season with arm laceration
Dallas Stars forward Patrik Nemeth will miss the remainder of the season with an arm laceration sustained in the first period of a game Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dallas Stars defenseman Patrik Nemeth is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season because of an arm laceration sustained Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Nemeth was injured in the first period of the Stars' 6-5 overtime loss when he was cut by Flyers forward R.J. Umberger's skate and had surgery Sunday.

"It was a real severe laceration," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "When I say severe, it's probably an understatement. I don't want to go into detail because I don't know exactly … first and foremost I hope for his sake it's a full recovery."

Nemeth, a second-round pick (No. 41) in the 2010 NHL Draft, was scoreless with a plus-1 rating in five games this season. He has played 13 games for the Stars over the past two seasons.

Nemeth, 22, had three goals and 10 points for Texas of the American Hockey League during the 2014 Calder Cup playoffs. His overtime goal in Game 5 against St. John's clinched the Calder Cup for Texas.

Jamie Oleksiak is expected to fill Nemeth's spot, according to the Stars.
