DUCKS FLY PAST BLUES FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

Frederik Andersen made 28 saves for his first career shutout and Sami Vatanen (2-0-2) recorded his first career multi-goal game to help the Ducks earn their fifth straight win and push their record to 5-1-0 this season.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Andersen joins Ross Brooks (Boston Bruins) as the only goalies in NHL history to win 25 (or more) of his first 30 NHL decisions. Andersen is now 25-5-0 in his career; 5-0-0 this season. Brooks went 25-2-3 with Boston from Oct. 25, 1972-Feb. 28, 1974 over his first 30 career decisions.

* Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf (0-2-2) recorded his third multi-point game of the season (6 GP) and his six assists ties him for second in the NHL, one behind League-leader John Tavares of the New York Islanders (7).

QUICK, THAT '70s LINE LEAD KINGS TO FOURTH STRAIGHT

Jonathan Quick made 40 saves and Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson scored for the Los Angeles Kings in a 2-1 win against the Minnesota Wild, their fourth consecutive victory. The Kings also extended their point streak to five games (4-0-1).

* Quick improved to 3-1-1 on the season with a 1.86 goals-against average and .951 save percentage. He has allowed only two goals in his last three starts (all wins) and made at least 40 saves for the second straight game (43 save shutout vs. St. Louis in previous start – Oct. 16, 2014).

* ”That '70s Line” of Toffoli (1-1-2), Pearson (1-0-1) and Jeff Carter (0-1-1) all factored into the scoring and have combined for 20 points (11-9-20) and a plus-25 rating in their past five games.

* The Kings have scored the first goal in five of their first six games this season (4-0-1 in those games; including a 1-0 shootout win against St. Louis).

RANGERS QUICK GOALS SINK SHARKS

The New York Rangers scored three goals in the final 6:59 of the second period, including Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash tying a franchise record by scoring four seconds apart, and Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves for his first shutout of the season to lead the Rangers to a 4-0 victory against the San Jose Sharks.

* St. Louis/Nash combined to score four seconds apart in the second period, tying a New York Rangers franchise record set by Kris King and James Patrick in the third period of a 5-3 win against the Islanders on Oct. 9, 1991. The NHL record for fastest two goals by one team is three seconds, set by the St. Louis Eagles (Frank Jerwa, Joe Lamb) on March 21, 1935 and matched by the Minnesota Wild (Jim Dowd, Richard Park) on Jan. 21, 2004.

* Nash scored his League-leading seventh goal of the season. He has registered a goal/point in five of the first six games, registering eight points (7-1-8). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Nash is the first Ranger in team history to score a goal in five of the first six games. He is also one of only two in Rangers history to score at least seven goals in the team’s first six games of the season (Don Murdoch – eight in 1976-77).

* Lundqvist recorded his first shutout of the season, the 51st of his career (all with the Rangers). He sits third among active goaltenders behind Roberto Luongo (67) and Evgeni Nabokov (59).

* The Rangers improved to 21-8-3 all-time versus the Sharks (10-4-1 at home).

FLAMES BURN JETS IN WINNIPEG

Mason Raymond led the Flames attack with three points (1-2-3) and Jonas Hiller made 34 saves as Calgary finished a six-game road trip (4-2-0) with a win against Winnipeg.

* Hiller has now stopped 83 of 85 shots against over his past two starts (both wins) to even his record to 2-2-0 on the season.

* Calgary received multi-point games from Raymond, Dennis Wideman (1-1-2) and Johnny Gaudreau (1-1-2; the first multi-point game of his career).

* TJ Brodie scored his third goal of the season to extend his point streak to six games (3-4-7).

LOOSE PUCKS

Kevin Hayes of the New York Rangers scored his first career goal in his fourth game … Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom made 14 saves in his first appearance since Jan. 30 … Petteri Lindbohm of the St. Louis Blues played his first career NHL game … Fargo star and long-time Kings fan Colin Hanks dropped the ceremonial first puck in the Los Angeles-Minnesota game.
