Blues' Stastny day-to-day with upper-body injury
St. Louis Blues center Paul Stastny will not play Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks due to an upper-body injury he sustained early in the first period Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- St. Louis Blues center Paul Stastny will not play Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks because of an upper-body injury he sustained during his first shift against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday, Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said.

Stastny, who leads the Blues in scoring with four points in the first three games, was hit by Coyotes forward Martin Hanzal along the boards at center ice and then by Mikkel Boedker in the St. Louis zone. He headed back to the locker room to be evaluated after his shift ended and did not return to the game.

Hitchcock described Stastny as day-to-day.

Stastny signed a four-year contract with the Blues in the offseason after he spent the first eight seasons of his NHL career with the Colorado Avalanche.

Hanzal was helped off the ice at 6:39 of the second period after he fell awkwardly in front of the Blues net. He did not return for the start of the third because of an apparent lower-body injury.
