OHL Roundup: Guertler keeps Greyhounds' streak alive in 5-4 win over Battalion

NORTH BAY, Ont. - Gabe Guertler kept the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds' win streak alive.

Guertler scored the winner at the 15:34 mark of the third period as Sault Ste. Marie slipped past the North Bay Battalion 5-4 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League action.

The Greyhounds have won eight straight to start the season with a perfect record.

Jean Dupuy led Sault Ste. Marie (8-0-0) with a goal and three assists, while Jared McCann, Zachary Senyshyn and Bryan Moore also scored.

Alex Henriksson, Ray Huether, Brett McKenzie and Miles Liberati built a 4-3 lead for North Bay (3-1-3).

Brandon Halverson made 30 saves to pick up the win, while Jake Smith stopped 24 shots for the Battalion.

The Greyhounds did not score on their five power plays. North Bay went 1 for 5 with the man advantage.

ICEDOGS 7 BULLS 4

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Mikkel Aagaard scored twice and added an assist as Niagara beat Belleville.

Graham Knott had a goal and two assists for the IceDogs (1-6-0), while Brian Brosnan, Anthony DiFruscia, Cody Payne and Aaron Haydon chipped in as well.

Jordan Subban had a pair of goals and an assist for the Bulls (6-2-0), while Aaron Berisha and Michael Cramarossa also scored.

STING 5 PETES 3

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Brandon Lindberg's short-handed goal in the second period was the eventual winner as Sarnia topped the Petes.

Hayden Hodgson, Nikita Korostelev, Jakob Chychrun and Davis Brown also scored for the Sting (4-3-1).

Michael Clarke, Nick Ritchie and Greg Betzold responded for Peterborough (1-4-2).

SPITFIRES 8 SPIRIT 5

WINDSOR, Ont. — Josh Ho-Sang and Slater Doggett had two goals each as the Spitfires soared to victory over Saginaw.

Logan Brown scored and added two assists for Windsor (2-4-0). Trevor Murphy, Chris Marchese and Mark Manchurek also found the back of the net.

Artem Artemov struck twice for the Spirit (3-3-1), while Dylan Sadowy had a goal and two assists. Brandon Prophe and Jimmy Lodge also scored.
