The Anaheim Ducks reassigned goaltender John Gibson to Norfolk of the American Hockey League, the team announced Monday. Gibson will play two games with the Admirals this weekend before returning to Anaheim, according to the Ducks.

After being called up from Norfolk late last season, Gibson, 21, went 3-0-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and .954 save percentage while becoming the youngest NHL goalie since Darren Puppa of the Buffalo Sabres to earn a shutout in his debut. He made four appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including a loss to the Los Angeles Kings in Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round.
In Gibson's only start this season, he faced 39 shots and allowed six goals in a season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 9. Frederik Andersen has since assumed the starting role in Anaheim with a 3-0-0 record, 1.95 GAA and .928 save percentage.
Gibson is No. 2 on NHL.com's ranking of the Top 60 prospects in the League.
Veteran goalie Jason LaBarbera and forward Christopher Wagner were recalled from Norfolk. Defenseman Bryan Allen (upper body) and forward Patrick Maroon (knee) were placed on injured reserve. Maroon was hurt Monday after a hit by Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges in the Ducks' 5-1 win.
