NEW YORK -- Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer left the game Sunday early in the third period after a collision with New York Rangers forward Dominic Moore.

Moore’s hip hit Reimer’s head and he fell awkwardly to the ice with 13:17 left in the third period. Reimer was replaced by Jonathan Bernier. He did not return.

Reimer stopped 24 of 26 shots and left with Toronto holding a 6-2 lead. The game ended 6-3, and Reimer was credited with the victory. It was his first start of the season after Bernier was in net for the Maple Leafs’ first two games.

Rangers forward Rick Nash also left the game because of the pending birth of his child. Nash scored New York's second goal of the game, his fourth of the season, before leaving the team during the second intermission to be with his wife. She went into labor earlier in the day and the Rangers weren't sure if Nash was going to available to play.
