Inside the numbers on wild 15-game Saturday

For the sixth time in NHL history all 30 teams competed during a 15-game Saturday that included 13 being played simultaneously. The action began at 7:08 p.m. ET and the first goal of the evening was scored by St. Louis Blues forward Joakim Lindstrom, which was also his first NHL goal since 2011. Vancouver Canucks forward Linden Vey completed the scoring with a power-play goal 7:06 into the third period of the Canucks' eventual 5-4 shootout win against the Edmonton Oilers.

By the time Game 15 concluded at 1:03 a.m., 919:46 minutes of hockey had been played with four games going into overtime and three ending in a shootout. The 30 teams combined for 86 goals (5.73 per game) and 911 shots (60.7 per game) before a combined attendance of 265,766. The Chicago Blackhawks scored a League-high six goals.

Other numbers of note include 767 hits, 425 blocked shots, 910 faceoffs, 465 penalty minutes, 25 power-play goals and 10 goals coming in the final minute, highlighted by Ryan Getzlaf's game-winner with 24 seconds remaining in the Anaheim Ducks' 3-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

A few games of note from an eventful Saturday night:

Montreal Canadiens 4, Philadelphia Flyers 3: The Canadiens rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the third period to move to 3-0-0, their best start since 2005-06, and have outscored opponents 6-1 the third. Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau's goal in the fourth round of the shootout completed the comeback to drop the Flyers to 0-2-1.

Minnesota Wild 3, Colorado Avalanche 0: The Wild completed a home-and-home sweep by outscoring the Avalanche 8-0 in the two games. Goalie Darcy Kuemper made 30 saves to earn his second straight shutout against Colorado, which has lost its first two games for the first time since 2008-09.

Vancouver Canucks 5, Edmonton Oilers 4: Daniel Sedin had three assists, including the 500th of his career. Henrik Sedin scored a first-period goal to give the twins four combined points, Nick Bonino scored his first goal as a Canuck and goalie Ryan Miller improved his League-leading shootout win total to 51.

New York Islanders 4, Carolina Hurricanes 3: The Islanders celebrated their 42nd and final home opener at Nassau Coliseum with a victory before a raucous crowd of 16,170. John Tavares had a goal and an assist and Josh Bailey scored what proved to be the game-winner at 19:56 of the second period that helped overcome Jiri Tlusty's hat trick.
