Kane unlikely to play for Jets this weekend
Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane is unlikely to play this weekend after sustaining an injury to his right knee in the season-opener Thursday.

Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane is unlikely to play this weekend after sustaining an injury to his right knee in the season opener Thursday.

The Jets, who defeated the Arizona Coyotes 6-2, play at the San Jose Sharks on Saturday and at the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

"I don't know, but my expectation is [he will not play]," coach Paul Maurice told the Jets website Friday. "I would not list him as day-to-day right now and we'll go from there."

Maurice spoke after a morning practice. Results of tests on Kane's knee were not available then.

Kane was injured on his second shift when he collided with linemate Mark Scheifele. He played one more shift before leaving the game.
