New camera angles provide unique on-ice views
Two games which aired Wednesday on Rogers offered a glimpse of new camera angles the network will be showcasing as the NHL's national television partner in Canada.

Two games which aired Wednesday on Rogers offered a glimpse of new camera angles the network will be showcasing as the NHL's national television partner in Canada.

Wide-angle replays on an aerial camera were able to show how scoring plays can develop from outside the offensive zone, and a camera placed on the helmet of a referee in each game gave fans a unique on-ice vantage point.

Replays from the Ref Cam showed officials getting into position to make calls, and new angles on key goals. The Ref Cam angle provided one of the best looks at a goal by Vancouver Canucks forward Radim Vrbata, which was originally waived off because of a high stick but was overturned after a review.

Both the aerial and referee cameras are available as viewing options for select games on the redesigned NHL GameCenter Live, the NHL's video-streaming package.
