QMJHL Roundup: Desrosiers, Oceanic shut out Cataractes to maintain first place

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Philippe Desrosiers made 22 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Rimouski Oceanic beat the Shawinigan Cataractes 1-0 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Alexis Loiseau scored his sixth goal of the season at 13:44 of the third period for Rimouski (6-1-0). The win gives the Oceanic sole possession of first place in the East division.

Marvin Cupper made 34 saves on 35 shots in the loss for Shawinigan (4-2-2).

Shawinigan failed to score on seven power-play attempts while Rimouski went 0 for 3 with the man advantage.

ISLANDERS 3 FOREURS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Alexandre Goulet and Kameron Kielly scored in the third period to lead the Islanders past Val-d'Or.

Captain Ryan MacKinnon also scored for the Islanders (5-2-2).

Anthony Beauregard scored the lone goal for Val-d'Or (2-6-0).

SEA DOGS 5 SCREAMING EAGLES 4

CAPE BRETON, N.S. — Saint John scored four unanswered goals to come from behind and defeat the Screaming Eagles.

Nathan Noel scored a pair of goals for the Sea Dogs (5-1-2), while Mathieu Joseph, Adam Marsh and Daniel Del Paggio also scored.

Charles-Eric Legare scored two goals for Cape Breton (4-3-1), while Clark Bishop and Maxim Lazarev also scored.

WILDCATS 6 HUSKIES 4

MONCTON, N.B. — Captain Christophe Lalonde scored twice in the third period to record a hat trick and help the Wildcats rally past Rouyn-Noranda.

Vladimir Tkachev had a goal and three assists for Moncton (5-2-0) while Will Smith and Ivan Barbashev also scored.

Ryan Penny scored two goals for the Huskies (4-5-0). Francis Perron and Antoine Waked also scored for the Huskies.

TITANS 4 VOLTIGEURS 3 (SO)

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Mark Simpson scored the lone goal in the shootout as Acadie-Bathurst beat the Voltigeurs.

Nicholas Blanchard, Guillaume Brisebois and Simpson all scored for the Titan in regulation (2-5-0).

Georgs Golovkovs, Michael Carcone and Alex Barre-Boulet also scored for Drummondville (3-3-1).

GATINEAU, Que. — Frederic Allard, Nicolas Roy and Alexandre Leclerc scored three unanswered goals as Chicoutimi downed the Olympiques.

Landon Schiller and Alexandre Ranger also scored for the Sagueneens (4-4-0).

Alexandre Landreville and Pascal Laberge scored for Gatineau (5-2-2).
