Michael Dal Colle, chosen by the New York Islanders with the No. 5 pick of the 2014 NHL Draft, agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract Monday.
Dal Colle had 39 goals and 95 points in 67 games with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League last season. The 6-foot-1, 182-pound forward, who can play center or wing, had eight goals and 20 points in 12 OHL playoff games and was named an OHL Second-Team All-Star.
"The coaching staff sent the message that if you want to be a pro, you have to excel in all aspects," Dal Colle told Newsday. "Work ethic is what separates you if you want to play in the NHL."
Very excited to have officially signed my 1st NHL contract with the @NYIslanders
