Preseason roundup: Maple Leafs shut out Flyers

Jonathan Bernier stopped all 12 shots he faced, and Antoine Bibeau made 15 saves to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs past the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0 at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday.

James van Riemsdyk, Brandon Kozun, Cody Franson and William Nylander scored for the Maple Leafs. Greg McKegg had two assists.

Steve Mason made 28 saves for Philadelphia.

Canadiens 3, Bruins 2: | WATCH HIGHLIGHTS | Drayson Bowman broke a tie with 48 seconds left in the third period, and the Montreal Canadiens rallied from a two-goal deficit against the Boston Bruins at Bell Centre.

Jiri Sekac and Christian Thomas scored for the Canadiens, who trailed 2-0 9:12 into the game. Joey MacDonald stopped all 14 shots he faced; Dustin Tokarski made eight saves.

Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser scored for Boston. Niklas Svedberg allowed two goals on 18 shots, and Malcolm Subban made nine saves.

Sabres 2, Hurricanes 0: Jhonas Enroth made 35 saves, including 17 in the third period, and the Buffalo Sabres shut out the Carolina Hurricanes at First Niagara Center on Tuesday.

Drew Stafford and Tyler Ennis scored 6:16 apart in the second period and assisted on each other's goals. Matt Moulson had two assists.

Carolina Hurricanes center Jordan Staal broke a bone in his right leg when he was hit by Buffalo defenseman Josh Gorges in the third period. Staal will return to Raleigh, N.C., with the team Wednesday and be evaluated Thursday. A recovery timetable was not revealed.

Anton Khudobin stopped all nine shots he faced for Carolina. Drew MacIntyre made 10 saves.

Blue Jackets 2, Penguins 0: Sergei Bobrovsky (30 saves) and Oscar Dansk (12 saves) combined for the shutout in the Columbus Blue Jackets' win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide Arena.

Michael Chaput scored for Columbus at 14:17 of the second period, and Cam Atkinson scored an empty-net goal with 1:13 left.

Thomas Greiss stopped 26 of 27 shots for Pittsburgh.

Lightning 4, Predators 2: Jonathan Marchessault had two goals and an assist, Nikita Kucherov had one goal and one assist, and Vladislav Namestnikov had three assists in the Tampa Bay Lightning's win against the Nashville Predators at Amalie Arena.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves for the Lightning.

Filip Forsberg and Craig Smith scored for Nashville. Carter Hutton stopped 19 of 20 shots, and Marek Mazanec made 12 saves.

Blackhawks 2, Red Wings 1 (OT): | WATCH HIGHLIGHTS | Jonathan Toews scored 3:01 into overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 2-1 win against the Detroit Red Wings at United Center.

Patrick Kane erased a 1-0 deficit for Chicago at 17:23 of the second period. Corey Crawford stopped 13 of 14 shots, and Scott Darling made eight saves.

Luke Glendening scored 5:59 into the game for Nashville. Jonas Gustavsson stopped 11 of 12 shots, and Petr Mrazek made six saves.

Canucks 4, Sharks 2: | WATCH HIGHLIGHTS | Linden Vey had a goal and two assists, and Hunter Shinkaruk had a goal and an assist to lead the Vancouver Canucks past the San Jose Sharks at Rogers Arena.

Jordan Subban and Bo Horvat scored for the Canucks. Eddie Lack stopped all 16 shots he faced, and Joe Cannata stopped 16 of 18.

Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau scored for San Jose. Alex Stalock stopped 16 of 19 shots.

Sharks forward Logan Couture did not play in the third period because of precautionary reasons.

Coyotes 4, Ducks 0: Justin Hodgman scored two goals, Louis Domingue stopped all 28 shots he faced and Marek Langhamer made eight saves to help the Arizona Coyotes shut out the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center.

Lucas Lessio and David Moss scored 1:58 apart in the first period and Hodgman made it 3-0 at 14:34 of the second. He scored his second of the game at 19:32 of the third.

John Gibson stopped 25 of 29 shots for Anaheim.

Sharks 5, Canucks 2: Joe Thornton scored two goals and Barclay Goodrow, Nikolay Goldobin and Joe Pavelski also scored to lead San Jose past Vancouver in Stockton, Calif.

Nick Bonino and Nicklas Jensen scored for the Canucks.

San Jose outshot Vancouver, 34-12.
