KENNEWICK, Wash. - Brian Williams scored two goals and set up two more as the Tri-City Americans downed the Prince George Cougars 7-0 in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.
Tri-City (1-1-0) capitalized on the power play, scoring five of their seven goals with a man advantage — including one of Williams' two markers.
Parker Bowles, Lucas Nickles, Ty Comrie, and Parker Wotherspoon also scored on the power play while Beau McCue added an even-strength goal. Bowles had two assists for a three-point night, and got a game misconduct and a five-minute fighting major. Jackson Playfair was also given a game misconduct.
Tate Olson and Wil Tomchuk got game misconducts for the Cougars (1-1-0), who racked up 70 penalty minutes on 21 infractions.
Prince George goaltenders Tavin Grant and Ty Edmonds combined on 31 saves, while their Americans counterpart Evan Sarthou stopped just 14 shots for the shutout.
