Ducks sign Smith-Pelly to two-year contract
Forward Devante Smith-Pelly signed a two-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, the team announced.

Forward Devante Smith-Pelly signed a two-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, the team announced. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Orange County Register reported the contract is worth $1.6 million, with an annual salary-cap charge of $800,000.

Smith-Pelly, 22, was a restricted free agent who comes off a solid showing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, when he led the Ducks with five goals in 12 games. He had two goals and 10 points in 19 regular-season games with Anaheim, and 27 goals and 43 points in 55 games for the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

"I'm relieved to get it done," Smith-Pelly said. "It's a long process, but I knew something would get done before camp."

A second-round pick (No. 42) by the Ducks in the 2010 NHL Draft, Smith-Pelly has nine goals and 23 points in 75 regular-season games.
