Zetterberg missed 11 games in December, when the now-repaired disc was slightly herniated, and missed two games in January. He went to the 2014 Sochi Olympics with Sweden in February and played one game, then had surgery Feb. 21.
"Last year was not the first year I had issues with my back," Zetterberg said. "It's just that last year it came to that point that I had to have my surgery. I think it's been off and on for a few years now, and it's nice to come in and feel good and not think about that and just go out and play hockey."

According to the Red Wings website, the team lost 418 man-games to injury last season. Detroit made the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a 23rd consecutive season.
"If you look at last year, there weren't a lot of games where we had a full lineup," Zetterberg said. "Hopefully if we have that this year we will see improvement."
