Hurricanes say Semin will be ready for training camp
Carolina Hurricanes forward Alexander Semin will be ready for training camp after offseason wrist surgery, general manager Ron Francis told the team website Wednesday.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Alexander Semin will be ready for training camp after offseason wrist surgery, general manager Ron Francis told the team website Wednesday.

"Based on the information I have, absolutely yes," Francis said in a Twitter Q&A.

Reports surfaced earlier in August that Semin was not fully recovered and was returning to the United States for additional rehab.

"My understanding was that he was coming back to train," Francis said. "He's training, according to his agent, a couple times a day and doing therapy on the wrist as well. There were no issues with the wrist, as far as I was told."

Semin scored 22 goals in 65 games last season. He had 16 in a 25-game stretch spanning January to March.

Quote of the Day

It was a different game in the past, that's for sure. It's not exactly what I was expecting but I think the experience paid off for a lot of our guys that realized what it takes in a Game 7. Realistically the effort we put forward, we might not even had to put 60 [minutes], but we just couldn't get a couple bounces to go our way and we just kept pushing.
