"Everything is tracking to date, but the bottom line is still a 4-6 month injury," general manager David Poile told newspaper. "Optimistically, Thanksgiving and end of November. That's an optimistic target."

Fisher, 33, ruptured his Achilles tendon during a training session and had surgery July 3. A six-month recovery from then would take him into January.

Fisher was fourth on the Predators in scoring with 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) last season with a minus-4 rating, averaging 19:45 minutes of ice time.

Quote of the Day

Look at the banners of [Scott Niedermayer, Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko] and Marty is right up there when you think about the New Jersey Devils; he was part of the core group and he'll go down as one of the greatest goalies ever.
