Jets sign defenceman Julien Brouillette to one-year, two-way contract

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Julien Brouillette to a one-year, two-way contract worth US$600,000 at the NHL level.

Brouillette, 27, made his NHL debut this past season for the Washington Capitals, recording a goal and an assist in 10 games.

The native of St-Esprit, Que., has spent the vast majority of his professional career in the minors, most recently with the AHL's Hershey Bears.

Brouillette is likely to see time with the Jets' top affiliate, the St. John Ice Caps.

The five-foot-11, 185-pound defenceman played his junior hockey with the QMJHL's Chicoutimi Sagueneens from 2003-'04 to 2006-'07.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
