Lightning sign Vezina Trophy finalist Ben Bishop to 2-year contract extension

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Ben Bishop to a two-year contract extension.

The team announced the signing Saturday.

Bishop, a Vezina Trophy finalist last season, went 37-14-7 with a 2.23 goals-against-average in 63 games. He set team records for single-season wins and goals-against average.

Bishop has played in 108 games with the Lightning, Ottawa and St. Louis, going 55-31-11 with eight shutouts.

The extension runs through the 2016-17 season.

Quote of the Day

I had one really not-good game. I came back to the hotel and he [his father] was on Skype. My mother called first and said, 'Your father wants to talk to you.' So he moved my mother away, and he yelled at me for like 30 seconds. I understood him, and then he said, 'I'm done.' And he was gone. The next game I got my first shutout.
