Forward Dwight King and the Los Angeles Kings avoided arbitration by agreeing to a three-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reported the deal is worth $5.85 million, with an average annual value of $1.95 million. An arbitration hearing was scheduled for Friday.

King, 25, had 15 goals and 15 assists in 77 regular-season games, and three goals and eight assists in 26 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help Los Angeles win the Stanley Cup for the second time in three seasons.

A fourth-round pick by the Kings (No. 109) at the 2007 NHL Draft, King has 24 goals, 30 assists and 41 penalty minutes in 157 games.

Quote of the Day
